Due to lack of funds to pay other event services in Durban, the Block Party headlined event by US rapper Rick Rosshas been cancelled. The event will no longer take place at the Kings Park Outer Fields on Saturday, 21 December 2019 as planned.
However, the Rick Ross Block Party will go ahead as planned in East London and Mafikeng. The East London leg will take place at the Buffalo Park Stadiumon Sunday, 22 December, gates will open at 12:00 CAT. The Mafikeng leg of the tour will still take place at Mmabatho Stadiumon Tuesday, 24 December as scheduled.
The disappointed organisers, NuWave Entertainmentwould like to confirm that people who have already purchased tickets will be receiving a 100% refund – which will be announced in the coming week. All partners and sponsors of the event namely GagasiFMand MTV Base (DStv channel 322) are absolved from any responsibility or circumstances that led to the cancellation of the event.
“In the light of the funding issues met by us as organisers, NuWave Entertainment, we have reluctantly decided to cancel the Durban Rick Ross Block Party. This decision was made following full consultation with all the relevant partners who are aware that the event is not going ahead at this time. We sincerely regret the disappointment and disruption caused to individuals who were looking forward to seeing US rapper Rick Ross and all local musicians today,” said a representative of NuWave Entertainment.
Durban ticket holders will be alerted of refund details on Monday, 23 December.
