Social Media Calls For Afro Punk To Cancel Sjava As It Did Burna Boy. Afro Punk earlier on made a public announcement that it has cancelled Burna Boy as one of its performers. While most rejoiced at the decision, others felt that the same should be done with Sjava.
Afro Punk is one of the most prestigious annual music festival which accommodates artists from all over the world, mostly Africa. This year it announced Burna Boy and Sjava as part of headliners of the show. Unfortunately now, both artists might not be part of the show anymore.
The statement Afro punk released didn’t go deeper into detail as to why it cancelled Burna Boy but fans demanded that Sjava must also be cancelled. The call for Sjava to be excused from the show is due to the abuse allegations made against him by former lover Lady Zamar.
“Hey SA fam: After a joint discussion with Burna Boy’s team, we are announcing that he will no longer be part of Joburg’s 2019 lineup. We’ve agreed that now isn’t the right time for him to come. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to our community,” read the tweet by Afro punk.
